The dentist will provide an age appropriate exam. This includes visually evaluating the teeth, gums and mouth for disease as well as evaluating for any orthodontic concerns that may need attention from an orthodontist. We treat children exclusively and have numerous techniques for making the dental visit as enjoyable as possible.
X-rays are necessary for the dentist to diagnose cavities that cannot be seen by the naked eye. Decay is often developing between teeth that are touching and cannot be seen visually. By the time the cavity is seen visually it is usually very extensive. This is decay that has progressed and can cause pain, infection and be more difficult to treat. As a pediatric dental office that only treats children, we have smaller X-ray sensors that are more comfortable in a child’s mouth.
